ALBUQUERQUE TURKEY
by Anonymous
Albuquerque is a turkey and he's feathered and he's fine,
And he wobbles and he gobbles and he's absolutely mine.
He's the best pet you can get . . . better than a dog or cat,
He's my Albuquerque turkey and I'm awfully proud of that.
He once told me very frankly he'd prefer to be my pet,
Not the main course at my dinner and I told him not to fret.
And my Albuquerque turkey is so happy in his bed,
'Cause our Thanksgiving dinner was his tasty brother Fred.

The Invitation
By Jeri Mertes 1993

A Christian cowboy shared a dream, as we sat around one night;
He told us how he’d seen his death – it was an awesome sight; For he was ushered up to heaven - an angel came to meet him; As they approached the pearly gates, others came to greet him. The angel told him first of all, the Lord he must go meet, But they must journey to the place through pastures green and sweet. So they set out a-walkin’ through the jeweled streets of heaven; They walked for hours and hours and hours – five, then six, then seven. And as they walked along he saw so many cowboy’s fires – And groups of cowpokes all around enjoying their heart’s desires. Though he saw cowpokes everywhere and all their faces studied, The happy faces he beheld were not his lifelong buddies. Everyone was friendly there, and things were never tense; The cowboy noticed, mile on mile, there never was a fence. Animals grazed in clovered fields and needed no attending; The trail wound on, o’er hill and vale, the glory never ending. The trail was lined with lovely flowers and birds sang everywhere; With God providing all their needs, there never was a care. He tried in vain, along the way, to find some friends of his, Though enjoying every mile of trail, his friends he really missed. They took some time to make new friends with folks along the way; Guitars were strummed, old songs and new, he heard them sing & play. The cowboy looked among each group to see just who he knew, But seeing no familiar face, his consternation grew. When finally they reached the place where Jesus was at rest, He looked upon that wondrous face and knew that he’d been blessed. As Jesus looked into his eyes, He saw the cowboy’s pain; He knew he’d seen no friends of his as he had searched in vain. Jesus said, “My friend, for many years we’ve walked together – I’ve shared your many burdens – I’ve always been your brother. I knew you before your birth; I’ve known your every thought – I died for you so you could live – My Word to you I taught. I didn’t ask too much of you, I knew you were not strong, But I hoped you’d learn to share the joy I brought you all along. Yet now I see you’re troubled, friend – confide in me your fears.” The cowboy tried to find the words, as both eyes filled with tears. “Lord, all that you say is true, I’m so grateful to be here. I’ve loved you all my life, I know you’ve always been so near. You’ve stood beside me, from the first, and you died to set me free, But there’s just one thing on my mind – one thing that’s troubling me. Lord, I’ve looked around up here, and heaven’s mighty fine, But I’ve been searching everywhere to find some friends of mine. My Lord,” he said, “I’ve looked and looked, but they’re nowhere in sight.” The Lord responded, tenderly, “Which ones did you invite?” |

An Unknown
by Jim Caviezel (Actor)
Your name may not appear down here in this world’s hall of fame,
In fact, you may be so unknown that no one knows your name.
The Oscars and the praises, they may never come your way,
But don’t forget God has rewards that He’ll hand out some day.
This crown on earth they’ll soon forget, when you’re not at the top –
They’ll cheer like mad until you fall and then their praise will stop.
Not God – He never does forget and in His hall of fame,
Where just for trusting in His Son, forever there’s your name.
I tell you, friend, I wouldn’t trade my name, however small –
It’s written there beyond the stars in that Celestial Hall.
For all the famous names on earth, for the glory that they share,
I’d rather be an unknown here and have my name up there.
You Came For Me by Ruth Floyd
Did I tell lyou Lord
how good it is to be here?
Did I Thank you Lord
for the price you paid for me?
Did I tell you Lord
how great it is to see you?
Did I tell you Lord
how much you mean to me?
You were there to intercede Lord,
all the times I went astray
and now I ask for others Lord,
that they won't lose their way,
and those who spent their prayers for me
that I would find your Grace,
Is there a way to tell them Lord
I have seen and touched your face?
Did I tell lyou Lord
how good it is to be here?
Did I Thank you Lord
for the price you paid for me?
Did I tell you Lord
how great it is to see you?
Did I tell you Lord
how much you mean to me?
You were there to intercede Lord,
all the times I went astray
and now I ask for others Lord,
that they won't lose their way,
and those who spent their prayers for me
that I would find your Grace,
Is there a way to tell them Lord
I have seen and touched your face?
